Title: An Indigenous Indian Medicinal Treasure: Traditional Knowledge Digital Library

Abstract: In India we are so lucky to have Ayurveda, Siddha, and Yoga which emerged as ancient medical system; later on Unani medical system also arrived to India. Traditional knowledge exists in Indian traditional communities is an easily accessible asset, who rely on plant based medicines for treatment of diseases due to the positive approach of herbal medicines, but found susceptible to misuse due to today’s commercialization. Present paper ignites on the digital library, dedicated to intact the prosperous traditional knowledge. Presently information communication technology tools and its novel indexing system made mammothical change to preserve the traditional knowledge. IPR has also been protected by using the IT shield that everyone may be able to aware themselves. To protect the traditional knowledge of Ayurveda, Siddha, Yoga and Unani; a digital library was setup as unique database for its wide usage and publicity. Summarily Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL) was set up as unique database to protect ancient medicinal knowledge & system such as Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Yoga to intact the Indian ancient medical system’s prosperity and public health welfare with IT shield.
